How it works

Connection Protection is a partnership between Visible and Empower Work that supports people who are experiencing a job loss, had their hours cut, or are between jobs.

Through the program, Visible, the Verizon-owned all-digital wireless carrier, will help people stay connected by providing three months of cell phone service to those experiencing a work setback. And Empower Work, a national nonprofit, will provide support via our worker text line for people to process their job loss, think through their job search, and work on a plan to land their next job.

FAQs

  • Who is eligible to apply?

    • Those eligible for the Connection Protection program include people who have been laid off from work recently, those who are not employed who are actively searching for employment opportunities.

    • The program is available for existing Visible members. You must have completed your first monthly service payment in order to apply for the program. If you are new to Visible, please visit www.visible.com to sign up for a plan that works best for you. 

  • What will I receive?

    • After applying, those eligible will receive access to 3 months of Visible service at no cost on the Visible plan, in addition to access to Empower Work’s text line that provides trained peer counselors to talk through job loss challenges and move forward to what’s next.

  • Do I have to be a pre-existing Visible user before applying?

    • Yes, this program is for existing Visible members. Please visit www.visible.com to sign up and create an account before applying for Connection Protection. You must have completed your first monthly service payment in order to apply for the program. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.

  • How does the application and review process work?

    • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by Empower Work's team. Individuals simply fill out an application, which we will use to determine their eligibility for Connection Protection. 

    • Applications will receive a response within three business days with the result of the application and information on next steps.

    • If for some reason an applicant does not qualify, we will direct them to resources and support to best help based on current needs.  

  • Are there any hidden fees? Or costs?

    • There are no hidden fees associated with the Connection Protection program.

    • Existing Visible members will be reimbursed via gift card based on their selected plan. 

  • What plans are eligible?

    • Visible and Visible+ plans are both eligible. The no-cost option applies only to the Visible base plan. Customers on Visible+ are still able to participate and receive a $25/month offset, but will be responsible for the balance of the costs for the plan. Reimbursements do not supplement device costs or add-ons (such as device protection), only service costs for the underlying Visible wireless service plan. 

  • How long will people receive no-cost service through Connection Protection?

    • People will receive a total of three months of service covered by Visible, through the program.

    • Empower Work’s text line is always free for folks facing work challenges.

  • What happens to participants’ wireless service after receiving three months of free service? 

    • Members will continue on their current plans after the three months are up. 

  • What if a participant is still unemployed after three months? Will Visible extend free service?

    • After the three-month period, Connection Protection participants will no longer be eligible to receive service with costs covered by Visible. However, Visible prides itself on offering affordable and reliable coverage with less costs built in, so participants will be provided with affordable options following the program. And participants will still have access to Empower Work’s slate of resources.

  • Can I reach out to Empower Work if I’m ineligible or don’t go through the Connection Protection Program?

  • How often can I participate in the program?

    • Existing Visible members are eligible for Connection Protection once every three years. 

Terms and Conditions

After approval and qualification via Empower Work, members will add a unique, one time use promo code to their account. Members will be required to make three regular service payments of $5/mo each month for the Visible plan during the three month program, and will subsequently receive a $15 digital Mastercard gift card from BlackHawk Rewards  (offers@hawkmarketplace.com) to offset those monthly costs. Members on Visible+ will only receive $25/mo as a benefit, and will be required to pay the balance of the monthly costs for that plan. Standard costs of service resume starting in the fourth month. Promotion is for one-time use only, and only one promotion may be applied per customer and/or per account. Promotions are non-transferrable - only members qualified by Empower Work are eligible to use the promotion. Void where prohibited, taxed, or otherwise restricted. Limited time offer; only 4,000 members will be qualified; no promotions will be applied after these caps are met. Individuals must have an active Visible account to use this promotion, and this promotion cannot be applied to a new member’s first month of service.

Visible reserves the right to change or terminate this offer at any time, with or without notice, including for any violation of Visible’s terms of service. If Visible, in its sole discretion, determines that a member has engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this offer, or that the member intends to do so, Visible reserves the right to disqualify the member from this promotion. Member must remain in good standing with Visible. If member is suspended or terminates service, the promo will no longer apply.
